PADI Open Water Diver is, without a doubt, the most popular diving course in the world. The internationally recognized PADI diver certification is your pass to explore the underwater world.

PADI OWD certification will allow you to plan and dive with a buddy at depths of up to 18 m./60ft. almost anywhere in the world. Also, you’ll become a member of a global community of over 30 million Certified PADI Divers, to incredible underwater adventures and experiences.

The course structure is well-designed, easy to understand, and available for ages 10 and up! Theory, skill practice in confined water* and adopt skills in sea!  It's as easy as A, B, C!

*Confined Water sessions can take place either in a pool or in one of the beautiful Bays of Koh Tao that meet the necessary requirements

Of course, we are always trying to complete the Confined Water training in the sea, as it’s more exciting. However, we respect the weather conditions above all.

Swimming Skills

Demonstrate ability to swim 200 meters without buoyancy aids or 300 meters with mask, snorkel and fins and 10 minutes swim/float

Theory

You can complete the theoretical part and pass the exams online before arriving at Koh Tao. By paying a ฿400 deposit, you'll get access to the PADI eLearning. The theory usually takes about half a day to complete. It is less time than the journey from Bangkok to Koh Tao!

However, nothing stops you from studying theory while relaxing at a beachside cafe on Koh Tao!

Skill Practice in Confined Water

During these sessions, you will master basic safety Scuba Diving procedures and equipment setup skills under the guidance of PADI Instructor.  From the first underwater breath and clearing a flooded mask to self-rescue and buddy rescue skills.

Adopt your Skills in Sea

During the next 2 days you will complete 4 dives in the open water as you demonstrate previously learned skills in conditions that replicate real dives. At the end of each dive you will take an underwater tour and enjoy an amazing underwater world of tropical sea and living coral reefs. Enjoy beautiful views between dives, snorkeling and rest on the sundeck with coffee, fruits and snacks.

First day 9 am: Meeting with PADI Instructor at the Dive Center - paperwork, gear assembling, payment, briefing
1 pm - 6 pm: Skills Training in Confined Water (sea or pool)
6 pm - 8 pm: Theory online*
Second day 10 am: Meeting on Dive Center - briefing*
1 pm - 5:30 pm: Open Water Dive #1 and #2 (max. depth 12m./40ft.). Rest on the Dive Boat between dives
Third day 8 am - 1 pm: Open Water Dive #3 and #4 (max. depth 18m./60ft.). Rest on the Dive Boat between dives

Deposits & Refunds

The course prepayment is not mandatory. Just Book your diving and all the payment might be done in our Dive Center upon arrival. Full refund if canceled within 24 hours if PADI eLearning has not been used.

In order to get PADI eLearning materials for your forthcoming courses, Hotel booking or Lomprayah High Speed Catamaran ferry the prepayment is required. 

Medical Restrictions

Diving is forbidden for individuals with asthma, epilepsy, or insulin-dependent diabetes. Please complete the medical questionnaire to determine if you require a physician's clearance to dive.

How long does it take?

Two and a half day, from 9:00 am on the first day till 1:00 pm on the last day

Is it difficult to get a PADI license?

Anyone aged 10 years and older can learn to dive and explore the underwater world. PADI knowledge development provides the fundamentals. With PADI eLearning you can read, watch videos, and take quizzes at your own pace before moving on to the next step. During in-water training you learn the necessary dive skills to become a safe and competent diver

Where will we start our course, In the sea or pool?

Confined session will be in the sea (typically in the bay with sandy bottom and clear water, protected from wind and waves with living coral reefs and tropical fishes) or pool, weather condition depends

How far do you have to swim for scuba certification?

To complete your scuba diving certification, you need to demonstrate ability to swim 200m./660 ft. (or 300m./980ft. with mask, fins and snorkel) without stopping, and float/swim for 10 minutes, using any swimming methods you want. There is no time limit.

How deep will I go?

First 2 dives in Open Water will be not be deeper than 12 m./40 ft. On last 2 dives your maximum depth will be 18 m. /60 ft.

How long will I dive?

Dive time in open water is around 45 minutes. The dive may vary as it depends on water condition and air consumption.
